Once you've decided on your goals, you need to explore your options. In my view: everything is marketing. What is marketing? To paint with a big brush. Marketing is painting your company, your business, or yourself in the best light possible. And exposing your company, business, self, or services to potential clients, the media, current clients and anyone else including your peers. So everything is marketing. Whether it's setting up a newsletter or contacting people that you already do business with via email. It might be working out deals with vendors. It might be running a sale and promoting that sale. It might be publishing a picture of yourself in the newspaper or online on a news outlet where it's going to be seen by other people. Word of mouth is an essential piece of marketing that I'll be talking about in some later videos and getting other people to talk about you. And of course advertising is a type of marketing. Advertising by my definition is paying money to have a place in a a medium (say a magazine, a newspaper or T.V) where you control your message. You should know what an advertisement is by now, you've been seeing them all your life. This is only one aspect of marketing. There are almost an unlimited number of other outlets that are free or a lot less expensive than running an advertisement that can also be a lot more effective. Start exploring what you're already doing, and some of the things that you might want to do.
