Video Editing: Trying Pinnacle Studio Again

box-pinnacle-studio-ultimateI’ve done tons of video editing over the years.  For the last several years, I’ve been using Adobe Premiere Elements.  I also own (and sometimes use) Sony Movie Studio.  One of the main pieces of editing software I used to use was Pinnacle Studio.

I’ve been shooting more and more events using multiple camera angles, and it’s a bitch and a half lining up video clips manually in Premiere Elements.  Just an observation – it seems Adobe is “dumbing down” PE, making it more uneducated-consumer friendly while the other competing lower end video editors are aiming for the folks who want more power.  Anyway, Pinnacle and a couple other editing packages are adding in automagic support for multiple camera shoots.  I’m working on a DVD that uses three different cameras, so tonight I ordered Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 19 because it’s on sale.

Yes, I bought myself a business Christmas present.

I stopped using it a few years ago because of some of the changes they’d made in the software, but mostly because of the crappy support.  There were no corporate folks providing support, only other fans who were using it.  Except that they mostly posted messages on the support boards saying how it sucked.  And it did.  So I switched.

But they’ve been sold a couple times and Studio is now owned by Corel, so the support should be better now.  And it comes with a 30-day money back guarantee.

Once I get it, I’ll be re-doing some of the DVD I’m currently producing, and also shooting a new multi-camera project.  Maybe I’ll post it here.  In any case, I’ll probably post my thoughts in January.

What software do you use for editing video?  And what kinds of projects are you editing?
