Social Media from Scott Gardner on Vimeo.
I mentioned this very briefly in the last video.
When you have a social media page or social media account. Most companies that I know think that "this is mine"; this is where I get to expound to my readers and this is where I get to sell to them. No. Please don't do that. You'll find yourself ignored almost immediately. A social media account is just that: it's a place for you to be social. It's a place for you to listen to what they want to tell you. It's a place for you to ask questions and then quietly listen to answers. People will come there and they will have problems. Don't try to hide this. This is a great opportunity. This is where you can solve problems openly and let other people see that you're solving problems. Remember customer service doesn't happen people are happy, it happens when they have a problem. This is a perfect chance for you to perform a great customer service to become that alternate vendor we talked about in public and let other people catch you in the act of doing a good deed. This is also a place where if you set up a charitable contribution fund, you can promote that on your social media page. But again don't always be talking about "hey don't forget light bulbs are forty eight cents a piece this month" or "come on down to my restaurant for ten percent off an appetizer" or something like that. This is a place for them to congregate, for them to talk about you and for you to kind of keep your mouth shut when it comes to selling. Let me know what kinds of things that you've done on your social media page.
