This year, we put time and money into helping a non-profit. This organization has three main aims:
First, they provide a martial arts program to impoverished children in a bad area of the city. While they’re getting physically fit and learning to defend themselves, they’re also building character. They develop self-discipline, self reliance, and becoming good citizens.
The second program is tied to the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). It helps children to travel within the state, and throughout the US to compete in karate tournaments. In the past, children who earned their way to international competitions were given some financial help.
The third program involves a cultural exchange between America and Okinawa; specifically, they bring musicians, dancers and karate masters over to perform for audiences in the US, and send Americans to Okinawa to learn with the artists.
What has Agile’ done for them? Well, we’ve developed an interactive web site, which we also host for them. We’re also helping them with program planning and scheduling. We are also writing blog posts and media releases for them.
We’ve helped develop a new, local fundraiser in conjunction with a national restaurant chain. The first of these fundraisers will happen in late September. We also took photos for another fundraiser – a golf tourney – that just happened on Sunday July 31st.
Speaking of fundraising, we’re researching possible sources of donations (locally, nationally and internationally), and helping them with writing grant proposals.
Let me ask – who are you helping? What are you giving to others? How are you providing service to your community? Please tell us all about it below!
