High Prices Are Good from Scott Gardner on Vimeo.
I told you we'd be talking about pricing. Here is one of the recommendations I have for pricing. Never try to undercut your competitors, always have higher pricing for your products and goods. First of all if you're going to be knocking on doors trying to sell something anyway, would you rather be trying to sell something for a dollar? Or would you rather be trying to selling something for one hundred dollars? If only ten percent of the people buy what you offer, you'd be making a lot more money selling hundred dollar items than you are selling one dollar items or services. The more profit you make, the more you can put back into your business. By that I mean you can provide more support for your services. You can afford to pay more for better quality products to sell to your clients. You can provide a longer and a better warranty the more money you charge. That's the first reason. The second reason is frankly a mental exercise with your clients. The more you spend on something (generally), the better you feel the quality is for that product or service. So having a higher price will allow you to give your clients better warm and fuzzy feelings. Another reason that you may want to have higher prices is that it will allow you the possibility to help those people who really need it. I have a client who is in the health field. When she started out in her business, she was struggling to see people who couldn't afford to pay for her services. At the same time, she couldn't afford to see them because she needed to pay her bills and and provide her own living expenses. I advised her to raise your prices. She'd lost some clients who were price conscious. She was able to fill the gaps where she lost those clients with other clients who are not price conscious. As a result she made a higher profit, had more time and was able to actually see those clients who couldn't afford to pay for any or all of her services. So she was able to either provide free health services to some clients or charge them on a sliding scale. Charging other people higher prices and allowing the extra profit to help those who may not be able to afford your products and services is something that many people want to do. So that's the third reason why I think you should really have higher prices. How about you? If you look around, what are your prices like? Low? Medium? High? Let me know below.
